Students Project PPDH & Helen Parkhurst

In April these five students from the Helen Parkhurst high school contacted us for a project related to the project Precious Plastic.️ The assertiveness of these high school students impressed us and we were happy to help them with a project.

We asked the students to create a product which would help us clean the bottle caps on a much higher speed. And they did! In 3 months time, they designed the machine and made a prototype.

We can’t wait to start working with it. Thank you, Jasper, Monse, Marieke, Eva, and Sanne for all your help. We’re really impressed!

Basisschool De Grote Beer | Precious Plastic Den Haag | PPDH

Last Friday we gave a Precious Plastic Community workshop for the pupils of Basisschool De Grote Beer carried out at the request of Made in Moerwijk! As we asked the pupils ‘who thinks they can live without plastic?’, only one dared to raise its hand. But as soon as it became clear that it would also mean a life without mobile or computer he quickly changed his answer to a definite NO :P.

We did a quiz in which these pupils had to guess which plastic a certain object was. They participated so enthusiastic and almost had it right every single time! Next, we went outside to sort a full shopping bag full of plastic caps by color (which was done in 10 min – they were like rockets!). When finished these pupils could throw a handful of these caps into the shredder and watch these get shredded into tiny pieces.

We loved working with you guys and hope to see you soon when we hand over the clock made out of your sorted bottle caps as promised.
