Dear friends and partners,

What an adventure Precious Plastic Den Haag turned out to be! Over a period of 2,5 year, we went to big exhibitions such as ‘Change the System’ of Boijmans van Beuningen Museum and supplied many workshops for schools and individuals in several startup programs. We enjoyed all of it!

With these wonderful memories in mind, we retire from this project to pass it on to someone else. Main reasons for this decision are money and passion. First of all, let’s acknowledge the elephant in the room: money. We tried to find investors via startup competitions and programs. We’ve put a great deal of energy in all of this and that is how we lost sight of what we wanted to do most: creating and innovating. We focused on creating commercial products – never on products we really wanted to make.

So, what’s next? We are looking for people who are interested in taking over (parts of) our workplace, which consists of Precious Plastic machines, a lot of product- and market research (400hours!), a big social media platform and a network of (potential) partners. Help! containers wanted.

Help! Due to our growing production, we are looking for a lot of containers to keep our raw material in. Not only do we need the containers for our own workplace, also the social workplaces could need some for sorting!

Since it would be a shame to buy new plastic containers to keep our recycled plastic in, we are looking for used containers which are not needed anymore.

Preferably transparent and larger than 2 liters.

Recycling plastic bottlecaps from The Shore Scheveningen into Surf wax combs

Yesterday we met with The Shore Scheveningen to turn plastic bottlecaps found on the beach into new products. For example Surf wax combs. They even put their words into action and installed a special bin for the bottle caps How cool is that? ‍

Students Project PPDH & Helen Parkhurst

In April these five students from the Helen Parkhurst high school contacted us for a project related to the project Precious Plastic.️ The assertiveness of these high school students impressed us and we were happy to help them with a project.

We asked the students to create a product which would help us clean the bottle caps on a much higher speed. And they did! In 3 months time, they designed the machine and made a prototype.

We can’t wait to start working with it. Thank you, Jasper, Monse, Marieke, Eva, and Sanne for all your help. We’re really impressed!

MadNes plastic recycled surf wax combs

Thank you sooo much MadNes Festival 2018 for the awesome time !! Last weekend we installed our transparent recycle station and created a limited edition of surf wax combs ‍, specially made for the Madnes festival. The visitors could exchange 10 bottlecaps found on the beach for their own surf wax combs. Again, all we met this weekend, thank you for the great time !

This week we are going to prepare for the Festival Madnes! With two Precious Plastic machines, the shredder and extruder, our team will travel to Ameland to leave the beach more beautiful than it already was. With plastic from the beach, we give visitors the chance to make new products from them.

Who else will come to the Madnes Festival?

With two Precious Plastic machines, the shredder and extruder, the Precious Plastic Den Haag team will travel to Ameland to make the beach more beautiful than it already was. They challenge you to collect and recycle plastic to make new products. For example, you will make your own surf comb on MadNes of the found plastic.
