As we discovered that a life without short-life cycle plastics in the near future is almost unthinkable, we wanted to create another solution for the plastic problem. A future in which every inhabitant can participate and strive for a circular economy.

With a new special technique of ‘Precious Plastic: Beams’ of davehakkens we created a recycled and recyclable LED-lighting. Each lighting has it’s own distinctive colour and authentic texture. Everyone, from companies to individuals, can order the lighting in sizes and colours conforming their own interior and taste.

The casing of the lamp is made out of waste plastics found in the environment and from consumer packaging collected by our dear partner AfvalLoont in Barendrecht. This plastic gets cleaned, sorted, shredded and turned into granulate by the social workplace of Schroeder. We not only learned that proceeding from waste to a new product is a difficult road, but also a time-consuming process with many steps. It’s easier and cheaper to acquire recycled granulate from suppliers and start from there. However, we want to create a process plant which main function is to alter the general perspective about plastic waste. By means of design and transparency of the plastic life-cycle we want to change the usual way of thinking.
